Los Angeles, CA (October 31, 2021) – Diwata Komiks successfully launched its first title, Carmina Issue #1: Beginnings, at the Philippine Expressions Bookshop yesterday to much fanfare in the spirit of Halloween.

The event concluded with Certificates of Recognition from representatives of the Los Angeles City, County, the State Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives for Mark Nazal (Chief Creative Officer/Editor In Chief), Erica Juliet (Marketing & Development Executive), Joe Arciaga (Director of Production, Sales, and Community Engagement), Roland Amago (Principal Artist and Creative Development Partner), and SurrealArts LLC dba Diwata Komiks for promoting innovation and outstanding efforts in Filipino-American storytelling.

Diwata Komiks sincerely thanks representatives Joe Buscaino (City of Los Angeles Councilman, 15th District), Janice Hahn (County of Los Angeles Supervisor, Fourth District), Nanette Diaz Barragán (Congresswoman, CA-44), and Steven Bradford (CA State Senate, District 35) for their support.
